Decorating Books

I've been collecting decorating books for the past six years. I've purchased a number of them at thrift stores, although a few were purchased new.

Of the 28 books I currently own, the following are my favorites:

  • Lichten, Frances. New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, Folk Art of Rural Pennsylvania, 1946.
  • Gilliatt, Mary. Boston, MA: Little, Brown and Co., Period Style, 1990.
  • Crochet, Treena. Newtown, CT: Taunton Press, Colonial Style, 2005.
  • Smith, Carter. Birmingham, AL: Oxmoor House, Decorating With Americana, 1985.
  • Rifkind, Carole. New York: Bonanza Books, A Field Guide to American Architecture, 1980.
  • Robacker, Earl F. New York: A. S. Barnes and Co., Touch of the Dutchland,1965.
I'll focus on some of these titles more closely in future posts.
