Ticket Stub: 1966 Rally for Lt. Gov. Patrick Lucey

ADMIT ONE Distinguished Guest...

Here is a ticket stub from October 27, 1966 (exactly 43 years ago today).  It is from a political rally for then-Lt. Gov. Patrick Lucey of Wisconsin, who was a Democratic candidate for Governor. The rally was held at the University of Wisconsin Stock Pavilion at 3:45 p.m., with Sen. Edward Kennedy as the guest speaker.

I did a little nosing around and found a photo and note about the rally at the website of the UW Archives.

The UW Archives website states:

Senator Edward Kennedy appears on campus as part of Governor Patrick Lucey's re-election campaign. When hecklers challenge Kennedy to explain his stance on Vietnam he challenges student Robin David to "Tell us how you would solve the problem in Vietnam." After the speech, a petition of apology to Kennedy collects over 8,000 signatures.

Another reference to Kennedy's October 27 visit to Wisconsin can be found at  La Crosse Tribune.com, Kennedy visited La Crosse for '66 Lucey Fundraiser.

The former Governor and U.S. Ambassador to Mexico has a long history of being a Kennedy man. Read the August 26, 2009 article, In Praise of a Political Legend.

I found this ticket at Antiques Minnesota, Burnsville, MN.  I paid $8.00.
